Unlike older all-porcelain crowns that could chip or crack under heavy biting force, lithium disilicate is milled or pressed as a single solid block, which gives it a more consistent internal structure. That consistency is part of why Emax has become a standard option for crowns, veneers, and some bridges rather than a niche or specialty material.

How It Differs From Traditional Porcelain

That combination is strong, but the metal base can eventually show as a dark line near the gum, and the porcelain layer can chip away from the metal over time. Emax skips the metal core entirely. The crown is ceramic all the way through, so there is no metal margin to show and no bonded layer that can separate from a different material underneath it.
